Aleran awoke, in the cart outside the city, in a snugly cocoon of shadows. Something stank. Badly. Aleran grimly realized it was him, his body had just started to decay.
He tried to move, but was surrounded by shadows on every side.
"F**k"
He was just about to settle in for the night when, suddenly, he remembered! "Fire!"
Holding his eyes open, Aleran looked straight ahead. He hoped that Kehvyn had put him in the cart in his back, otherwise Aleran was about to burn up the wagon. The only way to make sure he didn't burn up everything around him was to direct the flames with a body part, and his eyes were the only things that could move. As he focused the flames through his eyes, a blinding whiteness filling his vision. Aleran hadn't tried to channel flames through his eyes before, and it kinda hurt. Not the heat, just the light!
Aleran closed his eyes and tried to move around. It worked! He slowly sat up, sore from being, well, dead.
He tried opening his eyes, but the wouldn't open! All he could see was the inside of his eyelids. Reaching up with one hand to feel the stubborn lids, he quickly gasped in pain. He had just poked his eyeball! His eyes were open, but he could not see! Aleran was blind!!
He jumped out of the cart, stumbling and falling when he hit the ground. Aleran cried out into the night, a sorrowful and wretched creature, lying in the dirt.
